Abstract/Notes Layered gneisses and migmatite from the Superior Province east of James Bay, Quebec, provide a total-rock errorchron age of ca. 2300 Ma. This is interpreted as resulting from partial to complete isotopic reequilibration, on the scale of distinct layers, of Kenoran rocks during an Aphebian event. The total-rock errorchron has no direct age significance, and one possible geological explanation of the proposed "overprinting" links the data to a northerly, on-strike extrapolation of the Proterozoic Kapuskasing Belt.
